The BenQ Joybee GP2 mini projector offers something new to the mini projector field: an iPhone dock. This feature makes the device more convenient for iPhone 5 and 6 owners. You can also use this projector with iPad and Android devices.

BENQ GP2The first thing you notice on a BenQ Joybee GP2 is its iPhone dock space. There is no other mini projector on the market today that can offer this convenient featured design. Like many other projectors of its class, which are a bit larger than the Pico projectors.

This device does not come standard with a battery, but it does have the option of one, if you are willing to spend a bit more.

If you do opt for the battery, it lasts for up to 3 hours, making it one of the longer lasting options in the market. This projector also has a huge amount of ports to choose from, including:

  • HDMI (v1.3) x 1 (mini type)
  • ┬áComputer in (D-sub 15pin) x 1 (via CEA 30 pin cable)
  • Composite Video in (RCA) x 1 (via CEA 30 pin cable)
  • Audio out (Mini Jack) x 1
  • iPod/iPhone Universal Dock x 1
  • Speaker 2W Stereo x 2
  • Card Reader x 1 (SD, SDHC up to 16GB)
  • Internal memory 2GB (1.3 GB for user usage)

The BenQ Joybee GP2 is one of the few mini projectors that runs on DPL technology. It also utilizes LEDs for illumination, which can last up to 30,000 hours. It has a great resolution at 1280×800, and, at 200 ANSI lumens it offers pretty substantial brightness. Its contrast ratio is great, coming in at 2400:1, and it has internal speakers that offer 2W. One interesting technological feature that this mini projector has is that it has a touch-sensitive control panel, a bit like an iPod. This makes this projector easy to engage with and use, even in limited light.

This projector has more features for its price range than many other of its competitors. Probably one of the most important things to consider are the number of ports available on this device. It has much more than most other mini projectors, allowing you to connect to a number of different machines and devices. It has a pretty high ANSI lumen count, at 200, which makes it possible to play clear images even in a moderately lit room. It contrast ratio is excellent at 2400:1, and it has a pretty decent resolution at 1280×800. The BenQ JoybeeGP2 also has the most convenient design with its iPhone dock. Its LED lights, which can last up to 30, 000 hours, also save you money and time.

This projector has internal speakers, but they are not nearly strong enough to offer the quality audio most people want from their projectors. The brightness could be better considering how pricey this device is, and it has a tendency to crash when connecting anything to its USB port.

Customer Feedback and Reviews

Most people are happy with this mini projector. They love the iPhone dock and the image resolution. They would like a better speaker system, and they are concerned about the crashing that comes when plugging anything into the USB slots. Some customers were even able to use this projector with devices other than Apple products, so it can be a good option for other users, as well. Many people were impressed with the quality of the images, even when playing video games. The one thing they all agree on is that it needs to provide a brighter image.
